The 2004 Robert Edward Auction featured an advertising poster for the set, from 1938. Well-framed (and well-worn), the piece sold for $4250 plus the juice. Beautiful piece, though.

Recently, an eBay seller offered an "original" print of a second-series ad poster. I believe it was a reproduction, so I won't show it here, but I would certainly be interested in knowing if anyone out there had an original that I could show here on the site.

Lombardi Variation

This is a tough, tough card. It's the #246 Ernie Lombardi card without the baseball overprint variation. I've seen three of them in my life, although I'm sure there are more. One was sold in a public auction a few years ago. Two are in the possession of a private collector, and one of them is likely to be the one that was sold at the auction referred to above. The last one is this one - purchased by my friend Josh as part of a lot at a recent auction. Josh was kind enough to sell it to me at a decent price.

At the 2007 National in Cleveland, I brought the card to SGC for grading and explained the variation to them, and they were happy to notate the variation on the flip.

And here's another one I acquired in December of 2007. Much nicer-looking than the first one, although it is incorrectly labeled. Eventually I'll have SGC correct it.
